Before November: Check Your Voting Plan

Start with your election office. Deadlines and requirements depend on where you vote.

The brief

The general election is November 3, 2026. Registration, early voting and mail-ballot deadlines can fall earlier. Use your state or local election office for the rules that apply to you. [1][2]

Three things to check

Confirm your registration and address. Then check the available voting methods, the applicable deadlines and any identification requirements. Finally, find the official sample ballot and polling-place information for your address. Your election office is the place to resolve questions. [2]

Keep the dates local

Do not assume a deadline shared by a friend in another state applies to you. Check whether a mail-ballot deadline concerns a request, a postmark or receipt. If rules change, use current official guidance rather than an old screenshot. [2]
